MATCH REPORT BY :Jenny Elrick
1st Quarter
Beacon got off to a good start with the first centre and made it straight into a goal. Cowie were having initial troubles in getting their centre passes out and Beacon capitalized on this scoring a few more goals. Cowie also had trouble in the shooting circle as the shooters and circle players settled in. This quarter ended in a score of 9 -2 to Beacon.
2nd Quarter
Cowie were still not managing to get the centre pass out efficiently but the shooting circle was beginning to look better and the teamwork was coming together nicely. Beacon scored another 6 goals this quarter despite the hard work from the Cowie defence. Cowie did loose some balls to Beacon due to the hands before distance rule, which was unfortunate. However, Beacon’s footwork was also and issue and Cowie gained several free passes as a result, it was just a shame that Cowie couldn’t turn them all into goals. End score for this quarter was 15-5 to Beacon
3rd Quarter
Cowie had a slight change in line up and so a change in direction and the centre pass improved. Cowie then managed to get the ball up to the shooting circle and the improving teamwork of the Cowie shooters provided us with another 7 goals. The improved support provided round the shooting circle also seemed to make a difference. End score was 18-12 to Beacon.
4th Quarter
Cowie seemed worn out by the 4th quarter, and their passing became erratic and Beacon made full use of this by intercepting lobbed balls and other stray passes. Final score was 26-16 to Beacon.
