Ellon 3 took the first centre pass but Graham made an excellent interception in the centre third and gained possession of the ball. Unfortunately Graham contacted her partner and Cowie Blacks were given their first penalty, but managed to win ball possession quickly after this and they scored the first goal of the match. There was some good spacing in all areas of the court by Cowie Blacks. There continued to be good balance on court and strong defence in Cowie Blacks goal circle by Watson and Graham. Abel defended well with good stretches, and with good defence in the centre third by McFadden and Watson who double marked during an Ellon 3 centre pass. There were some hasty passes made by Cowie Blacks one of which was passed to the opposition, which was unfortunate in this instance and some overcrowding in Ellon 3 goal third. Cowie Blacks dominated the first quarter however, and played really well as a team. Cowie Blacks won this quarter with 11 goals and Ellon 3 who scored 4 goals.
Cowie Blacks proceeded to take the centre pass, which were shared by Boyes, McFadden and Corbett. Cowie Blacks forward movement on court was good with good spacing and balance. The ball was successfully moved up the court with excellent swift circle movement for Cowie Blacks, which lead to some great goals by Browning from the outer goal circle. Corbett made an excellent intervention in the centre third but Corbett and her opponent took an immediate toss up. Ellon 3 gained ball possession but Cowie Blacks swiftly won back the ball which lead to another goal for Cowie Blacks. Ellon 3 took a centre pass and gave immediate advantage to Cowie Blacks by hastily passing to them. Cowie Blacks play was very quick at times but they continued to co-ordinate the game well with good teamwork particularly in Cowie Blacks goal circle. Cowie Blacks won this quarter with a total of 10 goals bringing their score to 21 with Ellon 3 who notched up a total of 5 goals bringing their score to 9.
Cowie Blacks continued to balance well on the court with good co ordination; spacing and short, sharp passes. There was some good teamwork around Cowie Blacks centre third and good defence by Boyes. Ellon 3 scored some fantastic goals from the outer circle and collected some good rebounds in Cowie Blacks goal circle. Ellon 3 gained more confidence in this quarter; they played a stronger game and continued to play well against Cowie Blacks. There were some hasty passes made by Cowie Blacks, which lead to the opposition obtaining ball control. Mc Fadden and her opponent took a toss up but unfortunately Ellon 3 won this. There were some good rebounds by Buckley and Abel who scored a lovely goal for Cowie Blacks. Ellon 3 did well and won this quarter by scoring 6 goals which brought their score to 15 and Cowie Blacks scored 4 goals this quarter bringing the total score so far to 25 goals.
In this quarter the first centre pass was taken by Cowie Blacks which were shared by McFadden, Forbes, Boyes and Browning. Cowie Blacks continued to drive the ball up the court and scored. There continued to be good balance in the centre third with short passes on court. Boyes intercepted the ball in the centre third and Cowie Blacks continued to co-ordinate the game with good spacing and short passing. A penalty was eventually given against Ellon 3 but Cowie Blacks lost possession, as the penalty was not set which gave Ellon 3 play advantage as they scored. Cowie Blacks scored some great goals on the outer circle. Cowie Blacks played a good game, which they clearly dominated. They notched up 9 goals in this quarter bringing their final score to 34. Ellon 3 scored 4 goals, which brought their final score to 19 goals. Well done Wendy Watson who was nominated player of the match. Well done Cowie Blacks!
