Cowie Blacks won the toss up and Boyes took the first centre pass. There was good spacing on court particularly in the centre third. The passes were clear and short. The ball was driven up the court by Cowie Blacks but unfortunately Browning missed a goal opportunity. Turriff caught the rebound and moved the ball up the court but also missed a goal. Abel caught the rebound and made a clear pass allowing the ball to be played up the court by Cowie Blacks, but Turriff intercepted the ball and scored the first goal of the match. Turriff marked very tightly around Cowie Blacks goal third. Cowie Blacks took some time to get the ball to Buckley and Browning but eventually scored some great goals. The pace of the game was extremely fast and well played by both teams. Corbett defended well and Mcfadden, Abel and Boyes made some great interceptions on court giving Cowie Blacks possession of the ball. Turriff played a tough match defending well and Cowie Blacks worked well as a team. There was some good movement and good balance on court with forward movements in the centre and goal thirds. Cowie Blacks made some hasty passes and lost some balls due to this but there was an excellent team effort made by Cowie Blacks. Turriff scored 7 goals to 1 goal for Cowie Blacks.
The centre pass was taken by Turriff who drove the ball up to their goal third. Abel defended well and gained possession of the ball. During play Cowie Blacks passed the ball too quickly in this instance and they lost the ball off the court and Turriff eventually scored. Cowie Blacks defended their opponents extremely well all around the court. Cowie Blacks lost possession a few times due to high and some hasty passes. Cowie Blacks did make some good interceptions with good goals from Buckley and Browning. Browning, Forbes and Corbett shared most centre passes. Cowie Blacks had to be quick off the mark to obtain possession due to tight marking by Turriff. There was some good passes, good forward movement on court by Cowie Blacks as well as some overcrowding in the centre third at times. The pace of the game continued to be very fast and Cowie Blacks looked under pressure at times as the ball was passed directly to the opposition at one point. Despite the pace of the match, Cowie Blacks played a great second quarter. Turriff continued to mark very tightly in Cowie Blacks circle but Cowie Blacks made good movements holding their spaces well with some good goal delivery. Turriff scored 13 goals with six goals to Cowie Blacks.
Third Quarter
Turiff took the centre pass and missed a goal opportunity. Abel caught the rebound gaining possession for Cowie Blacks, but they lost it due to an interception made by Turriff. Cowie Blacks centre passes were shared mainly by Graham, and Browning. Browning and Buckley missed some goal opportunities as well as scoring some great goals. Forbes lost ball possession due to contacting her opposition. Cowie Blacks had clearly gained more confidence within this quarter. They played really well with some great movement; clear short passes due to tough marking by Turriff and some great interceptions and defence. The pace was still very fast and some balls were lost due to this but Cowie Blacks worked great as a team. A toss up was taken by Browning and her opponent but unfortunately Cowie lost the ball. Turriff shortly lost possession due to the ball being played off the back line. Cowie Blacks made a good attempt at moving the ball up the court and browning scored a fab goal from the outer circle. Turriff lost possession on several occasion due to foot faults giving play advantage to Cowie Blacks. Cowie Blacks gave Turriff tough opposition. Turriff scored 18 goals to 10 goals for Cowie Blacks.
Turriff took centre pass and scored the first goal of the quarter. Cowie Blacks centre passes were received mainly by Corbett. There was some great defending by Graham, Abel and Boyes and good offers and re-offers in the centre third by Boyes, Watson and Corbett. Corbett also made a good attempt at intercepting the ball in the centre third but unfortunately the ball went out of court. Turriff continued to mark tightly but Cowie Blacks continued to put up tough opposition. Turriff missed some goal opportunities but Abel caught several rebounds gaining possession for Cowie Blacks. This fourth quarter continued to be fast and furious on both sides. Defence continued to be good, with good co-ordinated play around the court. Cowie Blacks worked really hard and played extremely well as a team considering that the Turriff team played first division the previous year. The final score for the last quarter was 23 goals for Turriff with 14 goals to Cowie Blacks. Well played ladies. Lorna Graham was nominated man of the match.
