Cowie Blacks lost the toss up to Ellon 3 who took first centre pass. Corbett made a good interception but hardlines to Cowie Blacks as the ball went out of court. Ellon 3 scored the first goal of the match. Cowie Blacks had possession of the ball but Corbett was offside and Ellon 3 gained possession again. Cowie Blacks continued to defend well with great spacing, co-ordinated play, good circle work, and good interceptions and defence by Corbett, Graham and Abel, who prevented the ball from entering the circle. Cowie Blacks were on a roll and Browning and Buckley scored three goals in a row between them. At the end of the first quarter Cowie had scored 7 goals with Ellon 3 scoring 2.
Ellon 3 took first centre pass of the quarter and Cowie Blacks won immediate possession, which resulted in a goal by Buckley. Centre passes were sharp and short which were mostly received by Forbes. The play by Cowie Blacks continued to be well spaced, with low balls and good co-ordination. Abel, again won possession for Cowie Blacks who scored once again. Cowie Blacks lost some rebounds to Ellon 3 with one toss up taken as the ball went out of court. Continued good play by Cowie Blacks throughout the quarter. Ellon 3 lost possession of the ball due to a footwork fault and Cowie Blacks played well up the centre court and the goal third, but unfortunately lost possession due to an interception by Ellon 3 who ultimately scored. Continued catch of rebounds by Cowie Blacks gave them advantage with a score of 18 goals and 6 goals for Ellon 3.
Ellon took centre pass and scored the first goal of the quarter. Cowie Blacks took centre pass and lost possession by missing a catch but regained the ball, with Buckley scoring a good goal further from the net. Ellon took centre pass but Graham obtained the ball with a fantastic interception in the centre third, ultimately gaining possession of the ball with Cowie Blacks scoring again. Cowie Blacks continued to defend well with good spacing, low balls and good vocals form Boyes! Corbett intercepted by batting the ball within the court, Graham gained possession as a result, Browning tried to score, Buckley caught the rebound and put away a lovely goal. What a team effort. Browning and Buckley continued to work as a good team notching up goals for Cowie Blacks. Cowie Blacks took centre pass but lost possession as Forbes was off side prior to the umpire blowing her whistle. Ellon gained possession but Cowie Blacks continued to dominate the game throughout with 31 goals and 10 goals to Ellon 3.
The centre pass was taken by Ellon 3 who missed a goal. Good rebound by Abel who passed the ball down the court. Cowie Blacks played well with good spacing, good teamwork as they continued to drive the ball up the court. Browning came out to receive the ball and passed to Buckley who scored for Cowie Blacks. Ellon took centre pass and what a performance from Corbett who defended and intercepted the ball winning possession for Cowie Blacks. Cowie Blacks almost scored but lost the ball off court. Again, the play was consistent with mostly low balls, short passes with good balance on the Court and within the circle. A toss up was taken by Browning and Ellon 3 but Ellon 3 batted the ball offside. Cowie Blacks gained possession and they continued to notch up goals for the team. Ellon 3 lost possession of the ball due to a strong defence by Abel, as a result, Cowie scored. This was a great match play for the first game of the season with a whopping score of 46 goals for Cowie Blacks and 13 goals to Ellon 3. Well done ladies ! lurvley!
