Cowie Reds won the toss up and proceeded to take first centre pass. The game started well for the Reds with good co-ordination in the centre and in their goal third. Gordon had the first opportunity to score the first goal but unfortunately missed. Cowie Blacks had ball possession and took the throw in from the back line, and Cowie Reds intercepted the ball, which resulted in Gordon scoring a lovely goal for her team. Both teams played well against each other with some good forward movements by Cowie Reds and Blacks. There was also some overcrowding in the centre and goal thirds by both teams, but Cowie Reds worked well in this quarter as they moved swiftly within their goal circle. Cowie Blacks lost possession of the ball due to footwork and Graham defended well with a great interception in the centre third. Abel and Boyes successfully intercepted the ball with Buckley winning the rebound and scoring. Cowie Reds scored 6 goals in this quarter and 5 goals to Cowie Blacks.
Cowie Reds took the centre pass. This quarter was played at a fast pace with some hasty passes to the opposition by Cowie Reds, which lost them ball possession. Graham continued to defend her opponent tightly. She also made a good attempt at intercepting the ball. Both teams worked hard against each other. There was some good forward movement and balance on court as well as overcrowding by both teams especially in the centre third. Arshed made a great interception against the Cowie Blacks in the centre third winning ball possession. Cowie Reds quickly lost the ball due to an interception. Cowie Blacks drove the ball up the court but Browning unfortunately lost the ball off the back line. Corbett made a good attempt at intercepting the ball but unfortunately it went off the sidelines. Cowie Blacks really began to tighten up on their defence and managed to win this quarter with 13 goals and 9 goals for Cowie Reds.
Cowie Blacks took the first centre pass. Unfortunately a high ball was thrown and the ball went out of court off the sideline. This quarter continued to be played at a fast pace by both teams. There were some hasty passes made by Cowie Reds in the centre third during the centre passes. Cowie Reds struggled at times to feed the ball to the relevant players within the centre third. On the Reds side, Cruickshank, Gordon and Arshed defended well and on the Blacks side Graham and Abel also defended well with Abel catching the rebounds obtaining play advantage. Ridgway and McFadden took a toss up as they both caught the ball simultaneously. A subsequent toss up was taken by McFadden and Elrick as the ball was batted off court. Cowie Reds eventually won ball possession as they took the throw in from the sideline. Both teams worked hard together. Cowie Blacks were in the lead at the end of this quarter with 20 goals and 10 goals to Cowie Reds.
This quarter was played again at a really fast pace. There was some good spacing and balance on all areas of the court by both teams as well as periods of overcrowding. Cowie Reds made some good clear short passes with some good circle movement by Gordon and Owen. A toss up was taken by Corbett and Ridgway, but unfortunately Ridgway lost the opportunity to gain ball possession as she tapped the ball out of court. Cowie Blacks defended well and had some good periods of good movement and short snappy passes around the court. Cowie Blacks lost possession on one occasion due to Watson being offside prior to the centre pass being taken. Cowie Reds continued to play well against the opposition but lost possession of the ball due to hasty passes on several occasions that were passed to the opposition. Both teams played a tough match against each other. The final score of the match was 27 goals to Cowie Blacks with 15 goals to Cowie Reds. The nominated player of the match for Cowie Blacks was Katy Boyes and Becky Gordon for Cowie Reds. Well done ladies.
